Customized XMetaL for Authors
Course Outline


The Customized XMetaL for Authors course is customized for every customer depending on his or her individual requirements. The course duration is 2-days. If the customers DTD is very complex an optional third day is available to enable the students acquire an adequate understanding of the DTD.

Number of Students Per Class:  		10 

(NOTE: If more than 10 students require training, the class should be broken into 2 classes or an additional instructor will be provided at an additional cost to ensure that all students receive sufficient attention.

Course Outline:

  1. Introduction to XML

    This section provides an over-all knowledge and understanding of what XML is and how is it used. Specific industry focus is applied where appropriate.

    The following topics will be covered:
    • XML Background
    • Basic Required XML Components
    • What is a Structured Document
    • What is a DTD?
    • Why Do You Need a DTD?
    • Components Of the DTD
  2. Detailed Analysis of Companies Document Type Definition(s) (DTD)

    This section is customized for every class. The class will be given an in-depth review of the existing DTD that they will be using within their environment. They will understand the structure and content elements of the DTD. Required attributes will be identified.
  3. Base Editing

    This session provides students with the skills required to perform all basic editing tasks in XMetaL. This will include basic information about configuring XMetaL. Exercises will be created which use the DTD that will be used within their work environment.
