XML Chocolate Chip Cookies

While the recipe is fresh in my head I will write it down. Everyone keeps asking for the recipe and it is actually the Toll House Cookie Recipe with minor modifications. For those who haven't been to a Washington, DC XML Users Group meeting, I started making these cookies back in 1995 for each meeting. In the beginning years I would try something different and people complain and attendance would fall off.

People occasionally come to me and ask for advice on starting an XML Users Group in their neck of the woods and what makes Washington, DC the longest running consistent users group, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, etc. I tell them:

  1. Consistent location (we have American Geophysical Union to thank)
  2. Great people - our members are the best!
  3. Chocolate Chip Cookies

XML Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Sticks (or 1 Cup Crisco)
2 large eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla
2 1/4 cup flour (I use bread flour)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups chocolate chips
2 cups chopped pecans

Create the crisco, eggs, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy (I do this with a hand mixer). Add the flour, salt, and baking soda and mix well (I mix with a spoon).

Add the chocolate chips and pecans and mix well. Drop about onto cookie sheets with a teaspoon. Should be 12 cookies to a cookie sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until they start to get golden on the top.

Bring them to the next XML Users Group Meeting.

Enjoy
