Editor

This is a non-supervisory position responsible for the publication of USP-NF and related texts, documents, and sections of publications for content, style, grammar, syntax, referencing, and readability. The incumbent in this role will communicate with science experts, as needed, to ensure quality, clarity, and consistency of work and participate in team meetings to ensure timely completion of work through various workflow and work tracking systems.

Editor: Bachelor.s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a life science or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum 2 to 3 years in editing of scientific, technical, or medical material. Comfort in electronic work tracking and workflow environment. Knowledge and/or use of SGML/XML/HTML.

Senior Editor: Bachelor.s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a life science or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum 5 to 7 years in editing of scientific, technical, or medical material. Comfort in electronic work tracking and workflow environment. Knowledge and/or use of SGML/XML/HTML.

KSAs and Training and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing scientific, medical, and/or technical content in book and/or journal editing for both print and electronic formats. Demonstrated computer skills in a PC environment, along with proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Access, Excel), Adobe Acrobat Professional, and an HTML or XML editor (USP content is based in XML formatting). Thrives in a results-oriented, deadline-driven environment with strong attention to detail. Essential qualities include a keen eye for detail, the ability to work independently in a concentration-intensive environment, and the ability to navigate multi-layered publications systems and processes. Ability to work under tight deadlines in a multi-tasking environment. Able to operate independently where appropriate, yet understands when to escalate issues. Able to establish effective working relationships in a team setting.

    XML Specialist Position - USP

    Job Description:

    Function of the Position:

    This is a non-supervisory position which provides assistance to the Software Development Group at USP, working with OmniMark, XSLT, XML, and HTML. Modifies existing OmniMark code to reformat XML for USP.s new Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) forum. Interacts with others on the Software Development Group to transform, convert, and maintain XSL and CSS style sheets. Assists in conversion from OmniMark to new, Open Source technologies. Participates in Enterprise Architecture Group to learn from and provide guidance on new information technology initiatives for USP.

    Minimum Requirements:

    B.S. Computer Science or degree in related field preferred, with at least 2 years of relevant experience in XML data transformation using XSLT. Experience with OmniMark is also preferred.
